Blog Topic 3: Confession

Confession time:  Write about a time you got in trouble as a child.  What did you do?  How did you get caught?  Did you learn anything from the experience?  If you never really got in trouble, you could tell us about something you did, but didn't get caught, or you could talk about someone else who got in big trouble.  Check the comments section below for my story...

Blog Response 3 due Monday, 3/3 before class.

  1. When I was in sixth grade I wasn't allowed to date any girls. My parents told me I had to wait until I was older (I think 15 years old). However, one of my good friends had a girlfriend, and he convinced me to go on a 'double date' with a girl from school, him, and his girlfriend. I told my parents I wanted to go to a movie with Chris (my friend). This was the first time I had ever asked to go to a movie, so maybe they were a little suspicious.... Anyway, I lied to my parents!

I never got to go on the date though. The mother of the girl I wanted to go to the movies with called my mom and asked her if she thought it was a good idea for us to be going on a date. The girl's mom said she was surprised that my parents had allowed it. So then I was busted (caught). My dad talked to me about it and I apologized. I didn't get punished, however. My father just talked to me about how it was a wrong thing to do, and I felt very guilty and sad.

After that I never really lied to my parents again or tried to sneak out. I think maybe God allowed me to get caught when I was very young so that I would learn my lesson and not get into more trouble when I was a teenager. So I'm thankful that I got caught!
